001  SCULPTED IDENTITY | COLLECTIVE

The Sculpted Identity project is an interactive, experimental design series that explores the
boundless possibilities of the digital world.

By delving into self-expression and the multifaceted identities of individuals, it transforms digital face modification into a playful and engaging experience.

Participants are invited to reimagine their identities.
By taking a personal survey created by me, they are presented with an unlimited creative freedom to redefine themselves in an open, imaginative space.
The concept is inspired by avatars in virtual online games, which allow users to connect with alternate identities beyond their physical selves. This digital modification project offers the freedom to endlessly reshape one’s appearance, providing a limitless, creative, and temporary form of self-expression.

PART I: DIGITAL INTERACTION - MOVING POSTER

DIGITAL 1
MENGXUE ZHONG

This project integrates digital interaction with promotional strategy to engage audiences and foster active participation. By creating a virtual space event, I aimed to attract experimenters and build a platform for exploring the possibilities of digital self-expression.

To amplify the project’s impact, I designed a digital poster using Adobe After Effects. This interactive visual piece seamlessly combines motion design with innovative storytelling, elevating the concept to a fully immersive experience. The result is a compelling fusion of art, technology, and engagement that pushes the boundaries of digital creativity.
The centerpiece of this project is a 3D sculpture of myself, developed using Blender and Nomad Sculpt. Guided by a custom-designed personal survey, I explored the boundaries of digital facial modification, transforming these experiments into a narrative that highlights the intersection of identity and technology.

The second part of the project involved engaging with peers to explore their identity preferences for 3D face modification, through a series of interview questions.

Following this, a three-dimensional sculpture was crafted using various software tools, thoughtfully incorporating the insights provided by each participant.

The final step was assembling all the documentation into a foldable poster zine, featuring a full-page visual representation of each individual’s modified face.
